Speciality Surfactants

The Speciality Surfactants Group (SSG) Committee organises quarterly one-day meetings, in the form of seminars with presentations, on topics of interest to surfactant manufacturers, formulators, distributors, end-users and retailers. At each meeting several speakers from industry, government or academia give presentations on subjects such as new surfactants, developments in technology and applications and relevant regulatory issues, dependent on the theme of the meeting.

Themes of meetings are varied. However, the themes of recent meetings on "Anti-redeposition agents, builders and chelates" and "The Green Supply Chain" give an indication of the wide range of subjects of interest to the surfactants sector which are covered.

Meetings are held at various venues, normally in the North of England, and a charge is made for attendance. Meetings are open to companies that are not members of BACS but at a charge that is higher that the members' rate. Presentations are provided on CD ROM to delegates after each meeting and are also available at a charge to companies not able to attend.

In addition to the quarterly meetings, the SSG Committee organises an International Surfactants Symposium every two to three years jointly with the Royal Society of Chemistry.
