Microbiological Committee
The Microbiological Committee (MBC) provides a forum for member companies with interests in biocidal products to keep abreast of relevant regulatory issues and to monitor and assist in the development of UK and international microbiological standards. Meetings of the MBC are held quarterly. The committee works closely with the British Standards Institution (BSI) and the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) on the development, interpretation and implementation of disinfectant efficacy test methods.
In addition to these activities, the MBC organises occasional conferences on topical subjects, the most recent being a Biocides Forum held in November 2007 at which speakers addressed the requirements of the Biocidal Products Directive for formulated disinfectants dossiers. Conferences are held at various venues and a charge is made for attendance. Conferences are open to companies that are not members of BACS but at a charge that is higher than the members' rate. Presentations are provided on CD ROM to delegates after each meeting and are also available at a charge to companies not able to attend.
